E. BERLINER'S GRAMOPHONE

Physical Characteristics and Label Iconography of the 7-inch American Berliner Record

1892-1900

by Michael W. Sherman with David Giovannoni

In the closing years of the 19th century, a German immigrant named Emile Berliner and his small staff struggled to bring a flat disc record to the market. This monograph covers the evolution and development of Berliner's 7-inch American record from its introduction in the Fall of 1894 through its premature end in the Spring of 1900.

All known label varieties are described and outlined in detail, with numerous illustrations, charts and early record lists – plus special sections on the pressing materials and the patents appearing on the discs. If you are a collector of Berliner records, this is a work you will want to have in your library. 46 pages.

Price: $16.00 (softcover) plus $7 priority shipping in the USA
